2004 ford f-250 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. America's most popular heavy hauler. introductionthe 2004 ford super duty pickups look like serious big rigs, and they are. The f-250 and f-350 are willing and able to pull their weight. The f-350, with its optional dual rear wheels, competes against the 3500-series models from gm and dodge.  the super duty pickups feature first-class powertrains. The standard 5. 4-liter v8 gas engine was revised for 2003 for quieter and more refined operation. For 2004, the 6. 0-liter turbo-diesel v8 has been recalibrated for lower emissions. A 6. 8-liter gasoline v10 is also available.  the super duty trucks are not the latest in truck design and don't offer the level of chassis sophistication of their counterparts from gm and dodge. So they don't ride or handle as well.  however, ford continues to update its super duty pickups to make them more family-friendly. The base interior was recently upgraded and a power sliding moonroof is available for crew cabs. Several other new interior features further enhance comfort and convenience for 2004. Ford sells more pickups in the over-8500-pound gvwr range than gm or dodge. lineuplike most domestic pickups, the ford super duty is offered in more configurations than any normal human can count. And nearly 60 iterations are available in the f-350 (or 1-ton size). Any one of them can pull heavy loads. They offer more truck most consumers will ever need. (and when they aren't enough, ford builds bigger f-450, f-550, f-650, and f-750 trucks for the commercial market.)  f-250 and f-350 are available in regular-cab, extended-cab (supercab) and crew cab configurations. Wheelbase lengths include 137 inches (regular cab), 142 inches (supercab short-bed), 158 inches (supercab long-bed), 156 inches (crew cab short-bed), and 172 inches (crew cab long-bed).  all f-250 models come with single rear wheels. F-350 models are available with single rear wheels (srw) or dual rear wheels (drw). Xl models are pretty basic, with only a two-speaker stereo and fixed-interval wipers. Air conditioning 805) is optional. Xlt models are equipped more like the average passenger car, while luxurious lariats come with an overhead console, leather seats with six-way power, and aluminum wheels. Power telescoping trailer mirrors are available on xlt 220) and standard on lariat and king ranch; they feature heated glass and integral turn signal repeaters. Manually telescoping mirrors are available 125) on xl. A power sliding rear cab window is available on late-2004 models. A sport package 895) for xlt supercabs and crew cabs adds chromed tubular step bars; body-color grille, bumpers, and door handles; sliding rear cab window; fog lamps; privacy glass; an exclusive twill cloth 40/20/40 split-bench front seat and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.  the fx4 off-road package 225) adds skid plates, rancho shock absorbers, and a steering damper. Skid plates 100) are also available as a stand-alone option.  harley-davidson editions of the 4wd supercab and crew cab are also available. They come with all the king ranch goodies plus 18-inch aluminum wheels and unique harley-davidson design cues inside and out. Color choices consist of black, black and orange, and black and gray. Prices range from $39,340 for a short-wheelbase f-250 supercab to $42,800 for a long-wheelbase f-350 crew cab. walkaroundford super duty pickups are arguably the best-looking heavy-duty pickups available. The new heavy-duty dodge rams are more stylish, while the gm trucks are conservatively styled. The fords have a brawny, no-nonsense look that we find very appealing.  when the current generation of ford super duty pickups appeared in 1999, they conspicuously avoided the rounder, more aerodynamic look then used by the light-duty f-150. Then and now, the super duty trucks looked bluff-nosed and serious, with menacing, square-jawed front ends, brawny raised hoods and aggressive headlamps. Significantly, the all-new 2004 f-150 now looks more like its super duty stablemates.  super duty's dropped sill line gives it a sense of openness and accessibility. It also makes it easier to climb in, a welcome feature when juggling tools, briefcases, or even toddlers. A distinctive dip along the front door side glass improves the driver's view of the exterior mirrors, a big help when towing a trailer or for seeing around cargo boxes or dump-truck bodies. A locking tailgate is standard.  king ranch crew cabs are dressed up with body-color mirror housings and door handles, arizona beige wheel lip moldings, lighted running boards and special king ranch aluminum wheels. Three two-tone paint combinations are available: estate green, chestnut brown, or oxford white; each with arizona beige as the accent color. interiorford super duty trucks are very roomy, with comfortable and spacious seats and plenty of hip and shoulder room.  truck owners spend a lot of time in their vehicles, so the designers at ford paid a lot of attention to comfort and convenience. The interior features a fold-down armrest, a floor console that can accommodate a laptop, and a removable hanging storage bin that can attach to the dash. Even the standard bench seats recline. Controls are big and easy to reach and manipulate. The only exception is the instrument panel dimmer, which is a bit hard to reach. Optional power-adjustable pedals 120) are particularly helpful for smaller drivers, allowing them to sit further away from the airbag in the steering wheel.  two large cupholders are provided. The standard cigar lighter is augmented with a second auxiliary power outlet. The instrument cluster includes a transmission temperature gauge when an automatic transmission is ordered.  passenger-side airbags offer a deactivation switch on regular cab and supercab models. The rear doors are 25 inches wide. They hinge on the rear pillars of the cab and swing out a full 90 degrees from the doorsill, a design that eases the loading of gear and passengers. Hidden vertical beams and a cross brace where the front and rear doors meet contribute to occupant safety.  the rear seat cushion folds up and forward, and the seatback folds down to create a flat, steel loading surface, a perfect place to put tools and other heavy items that need to stay secure and out of the elements. All crew cabs except xl now come with grocery hooks, integrated cup holders and rear-seat head restraints. driving impressionford super duty's standard 5. 4-liter v8 is rated 260 horsepower and 350 pounds-feet of torque. Using computer analysis, ford engineers stiffened the engine block for 2003, reducing radiated noise by as much as 3. 1 decibels.  the 6. 8-liter v10 600) is rated 310 horsepower and 425 pounds-feet of torque. Both gas engines are part of ford's triton series, and employ overhead cams for valve control.  the 6. 0-liter powerstroke turbocharged diesel v8 is an expensive option 5,085), but it is rated 550 pounds-feet of torque at 2000 rpm, and 325 horsepower at 3300 rpm. That's more peak horsepower and torque than the 7. 3-liter turbo-diesel that ford offered until early last year. The new engine is also cleaner running and more economical.  a six-speed manual transmission is standard on all ford super duty models. Its fenders don't seem to fill rural roads ditch to ditch as much as the dodge trucks do. Steering is precise. Handling is good, though not as good as the newer designs from dodge and gm. Body roll is noticeably limited when cornering. Air Conditioning✔ Sport Package✔ Sunroof/Moonroof✔ Leather Seats✔ Aluminum Wheels

2007 pontiac g6 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The coupe is comfortable and sporty. A panoramic roof is available on sedans, with panels that slide rearward creating a sunroof large enough for the back seat riders to enjoy an open-air experience.  new for 2007, the gtp sedan features a 3. 6-liter v6 with variable valve timing and a six-speed automatic transmission. Hydraulic power steering is standard on all gt models, and head curtain side-impact airbags are standard on g6 sedan and coupe. G6 also gets 17-inch five-spoke, high-vent wheels for 2007, and a standard interior rearview electrochromic mirror with compass display. New exterior color options for 2007 include blue-gold crystal metallic and dark gray steel metallic.  the mission of the pontiac g6 is to beat the honda accord, nissan altima and mazda6 on value, a proposition bolstered by lower prices. While the g6 doesn't offer the refinement or attention to detail of its japanese rivals, it's an alternative worth considering for shoppers in the mid-size car market. Standard features on the special value model 17,245) include air conditioning, tilt/telescopic steering wheel, power windows, power door locks, power mirrors, am/fm/cd player, variable intermittent wipers, tachometer, theft-deterrent system, and 16-inch steel wheels with 215/60r16 tires. The base model 18,800) adds cruise control, remote keyless entry and 17-inch steel wheels with 225/50r17 tires.  the gt sedan 22,380), gt coupe 22,150), and gt convertible 28,750) come standard with a 3. 5-liter v6, abs, and 17-inch wheels and tires. Option packages are available to personalize the car.  safety features that come on all models include driver and passenger front airbags (the passenger side airbag features occupant detection) and seatbelts with pretensioners. New standard safety features for 2007 are side-impact air bags and head curtain airbags for g6 sedan and coupe models. Anti-lock brakes packaged with traction control are standard on gt and gtp models (optional on base models). Basic traction assist is available on the base model, full-spectrum traction control on the gt, and traction control with the gm/delphi stabilitrak chassis control system will be available on the gtp. Onstar 695) is an excellent safety feature for its ability to summon help. We recommend opting for all this stuff. walkaroundthe pontiac g6 models are attractive cars. They have the smooth styling of the latest-generation pontiacs, sharing cues with the solstice roadster and other models and sort of a lexus/toyota look from the rear. In fact, the g6 led this latest pontiac styling revolution. Its clean, uncluttered lines are quite pleasing.  instead of side cladding, there is a single spear running down the sides of the g6 with an optional delicately integrated spoiler lip on the trailing edge of the decklid.  gtp models look similar to the gts, but with a spoiler and chrome exhaust tips. The base version has almost no decoration at all, and is relatively dull-looking.  the coupe and convertible inject a little more excitement into the styling. The two share the same sleek profile, although the roof on the coupe looks much better integrated (for obvious reasons). The frameless windows are indexed, meaning that they automatically open 0. 25 inch when the doors are opened, and close again when the door is closed for a tight seal. From the rear, both cars feature narrow taillights and a sloping decklid that looks similar to the toyota solara coupe and convertible. We think it's an improvement over the blander styling of the sedan.  the pontiac g6 is built in michigan on gm's international epsilon platform, from parts and ideas used on the saab 9-3, opel vectra, and chevrolet malibu.  all g6 models use the long wheelbase version of the epsilon platform (like the malibu maxx), which gives them ride and handling finesse, with a structural stiffness that helps the g6 achieve a 27. 3 hz bending frequency, a big number that ranks with most luxury cars. Pontiac says the car is designed with three major torque rings that add stiffness and strength without taking up too much space or adding weight. In addition to the torque rings, the g6 structure also uses high-strength steel for about 60 percent of underbody components and central tunnel. Rather than just a single layer of sheet steel, the tunnel has an extra piece of steel welded between it and the floor pan. The stiff body uses fully isolated front and rear subframes to carry the heavy stuff, and the front one is hydroformed for strength and light weight.  these measures can be experienced in the smooth ride and sharp handling of the g6. interiorthe pontiac g6 has a nice interior with attractive fabrics and comfortable bucket seats. At first, it has that tank-like pontiac feeling of sitting down low in the cockpit, but that feeling goes away with a little familiarity and the g6 becomes a happy companion. The cabin is altogether different from the old soft-plastic, fat-knob theme of older pontiacs. It's much more modern, more european.  the sporty front bucket seats are made for body comfort and body retention in high-speed maneuvers, and they are very comfortable and thickly padded.  rear-seat space benefits from the relatively long wheelbase of 112. 3 inches. In the sedan, a 6-foot, 4-inch passenger can sit behind a 6-foot, 4-inch driver with plenty of room. Those with tall friends or family may want to remember that the panoramic sunroof is powered by a motor that takes up a big chunk of headroom at the trailing edge of the sedan's headliner. The coupe's rear seating is a little tighter, and the convertible's tighter still, especially in shoulder and hip room. Instruments and controls are presented in white on black (red at night). Every single knob and escutcheon has a chrome ring around it; very tasteful, and nicely presented, with small, conservative graphics on the faces and labels.  the center stack has a red-led readout and control panel that allows every owner to use the sound system's features, and to customize the locking, lighting, and other functions, with a trip computer and driver information system that's easy, intuitive and fun to use. The audio system works well and the knobs are sized well for operating while driving, a welcome relief from the tiny buttons and knobs on many systems. It's remarkable how easily it works, and keeps conversation possible even at very high road speeds. It's an interesting feature and we recommend it.  the convertible's top was engineered with karmann, which specializes in convertibles. The big top opens and closes within 30 seconds, storing under the truck lid and a hard tonneau cover when open. We found it works exceptionally well, powering up or down with the press of a button. Hold the button down after it's done and the windows will power up or down appropriately.  the trunk is still accessible when the top is down, but space is reduced from a tiny 5. 8 cubic feet to a grocery-bag sized 1. 8 cubic feet. The trunklid on the convertible was heavy and relatively hard to lift open. driving impressionthe pontiac g6 is fun to drive and quite pleasant for cruising around. We found the sedan, coupe and convertible models reasonably quiet around town.

2007 ford freestyle review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The ford freestyle is what has become known as a crossover vehicle. The freestyle combines space-conscious and people-friendly packaging with a modern powertrain that delivers performance and efficiency. Three rows of seats yield six-passenger, or even seven-passenger capacity. The freestyle is powered by a 203-hp 3. 0-liter v6 and continuously variable transmission that eases engine load and smoothes the drive. Front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is available. The ford freestyle is a carryover from 2006 with a couple paint changes and some option and package content modifications.

2011 ford expedition review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Full-size suv with big towing capacity. introductionthe ford expedition is a full-size sport-utility vehicle. It seats up to eight people, hauls a mountain of gear, and can tow trailers in the 9,000-pound range. That's nice on long drives. With its combination of utility, a smooth, stable ride and a pleasant interior, the ford expedition is a fine choice for families that tow or take driving vacations. Ford's 5. 4-liter v8 powers all models.  there are few changes for 2011 expedition models. Expedition was last redesigned for the 2007 model year.  the ford expedition comes in two lengths, the standard model with a 119-inch wheelbase, and the expedition el with its 131-inch wheelbase. Every expedition is powered by a single-overhead-cam 5. 4-liter v8 rated at 310 horsepower and 365 pound-feet of torque. Xlt options include moonroof 995), power running boards 995), air suspension 485), rear-seat entertainment 1,995), leather 2,265), and voice-activated navigation 2,105). The xlt is also available with three comprehensive packages with increasing levels of features, the 201a 4,425), 202a 5,610), and 203a 9,705).  expedition limited 44,870) and limited 4wd 47,770), limited el 47,520) and limited el 4wd 50,420) add heated and cooled front seats, power rear quarter windows, dual-zone climate control, memory for driver's seat and exterior mirrors, rear-view camera, rain-sensing wipers, power liftgate, powerfold rear seat, leather, 20-inch alloy wheels and a wide range of additional convenience and trim features. Limited decor group 301a 4,590) features navigation system, rear-seat entertainment, moonroof, and power running boards.  expedition king ranch 46,140) and king ranch 4wd 49,040), king ranch el 48,790) and king ranch el 4wd 51,690) feature chaparral leather upholstery, king ranch badging, and gold exterior accents. The leather trims the center console lid, steering wheel and door panels, while wood trim can be found on the center console, shifter handle and instrument panel. There is also a king ranch decor group 401a 4,590), which includes navigation, rear-seat entertainment, moonroof, and power running boards.  safety equipment includes front airbags, torso-protecting front side airbags, three-row head-protecting side-curtain airbags with rollover deployment, tire-pressure monitor, anti-lock brakes (abs) with brake assist, and advancetrac electronic stability control with roll stability control (rsc) and trailer sway control. A rear obstacle detection system is standard on limited and king ranch. walkaroundthe ford expedition is a truck and it doesn't pretend to be anything else. This is a good identity to have, because ford trucks continue to have an outstanding reputation for utility, reliability and durability.  both the long and regular-length versions of the expedition use many of the components from the ford f-150 pickup. However, the expedition features independent rear suspension, which improves driving precision, ride comfort, and rear-seat roominess.  this third-generation expedition features a three-bar grille, large headlights, and a domed hood that combine to deliver a look that's both distinctive and respectable. There are several different wheel designs, including 20-inchers with a chrome finish.  the expedition rides on a wheelbase of 119. 0 inches, while the el models stretch that to 131. 0 inches. Overall, the el measures 14. 8 inches longer than the standard expedition, and that adds slightly over 22 cubic feet of cargo volume, from 108. 3 cubic feet for the expedition to 130. 8 for the el.  the expedition and the expedition el are big vehicles, measuring more than 17 feet from nose to tail. As a result, crowded parking lots can be challenging. The expedition has a turning circle of nearly 41 feet, while the el requires nearly 44 feet.  they're also heavy, as even the base 2wd expedition weighs almost 6,000 pounds, and a loaded el with 4wd will be comfortably over that.  the king ranch model can be identified by its gold exterior accents and unique wheel design.  the expedition comes with running boards as standard equipment. Power retractable running boards that deploy when the doors are opened are optional. Some owners prefer no running boards, but that doesn't appear to be an option. interiorthe ford expedition features a rich blend of finishes, textures and color. Wood, chrome and leather make the expedition an inviting place to spend a day on the road. Leather-upholstered examples are available with a heating/cooling feature that makes them a more comfortable companion in winter and summer. Generous driver's-seat travel helps accommodate taller drivers, and it's a perfect match for the expedition's movable pedals, so a wide range of sizes of drivers can sit comfortably.  the second seating row reflects ford's thoughtful approach to passenger comfort: the standard 40/20/40 bench seat incorporates a center section that slides, bringing a child seat within easier reach of front-seat passengers. Optional second-row captain's chairs with a center-aisle pass-through can be substituted for adult-rated comfort.  packaging advantages afforded by the expedition's independent rear suspension enable the third-row seat to deliver more comfort for adults compared to the accommodations provided by the chevy tahoe. In fact, third-row room is among the best of any suv, though three adults won't want to sit in the back for long. The high ride height also makes getting in and out a task for children.  the expedition's liftgate with its flip-up glass hatch makes access to the cargo area very easy. The expedition's second- and third-row bench-type seats fold flat into the cargo floor, affording a long cargo area that can be easily loaded. In this regard, the expedition is much better designed than gm's large suvs. The expedition is also available with an optional power-folding third-row seat and electronically powered liftgate to make it even easier to load cargo. However, the seat cushions of the second- and third-row seats are a little slim in order to allow the seats to fold properly.  the expedition is about more than convenience. A dvd-based navigation system with sizable 6. 5-inch screen is available as an option. The rear-seat dvd entertainment system has an eight-inch screen that flips down from the headliner and also includes two sets of wireless headphones. A plug-in jack for an mp3 player is standard across the line. The image is shown in the rear-view mirror, and is quite small. While the image is useful, obstacles are not as easy to spot as they are in systems that show their images on six- or seven-inch dash-mounted screens. driving impress.

2005 cadillac escalade review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Luxury doesn't get much bigger than this. introductionin the old days nothing said big money like a cadillac. Well, those days are back by the truckload. A cadillac escalade can often be seen around big money. Indeed, from its intimidating size to its sharp, chiseled styling to its massive grille, it makes a strong statement. And it backs that statement up with the cadillac traditions of big horsepower and the very latest gm technology.  the escalade nameplate includes three dramatically different though distinctly similar models: the standard escalade is a full-size sport utility, the same size as the chevy tahoe. The escalade esv is a suburban-sized model. The escalade ext is cadillac's interpretation of the chevy avalanche, a brilliantly executed sport utility truck that quickly converts from a pickup with an eight-foot bed to a five-passenger luxury vehicle. All three feature a high-performance 6. 0-liter v8 and all-wheel drive.  built on gm's superb full-size truck platform, the escalade, esv, and ext are fine trucks and make excellent tow vehicles. At the same time, they're roomy, luxuriously appointed vehicles that can haul family or friends or business associates in comfort. The 6. 0-liter v8 supplies serious power for quick acceleration when needed along with strong torque for towing. On the road, all three escalades are smooth and stable, nicer in ride than a tahoe or suburban but taut and well-controlled by full-size suv standards for surprisingly good handling.  for 2005, escalade features even richer interior appointments and a redesigned satellite-navigation option; while new dual electric cooling fans and an upgraded (to 160 amps) alternator promise better air-conditioner performance. lineupthe standard escalade is available with two-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The high-output 6. 0-liter v8 engine comes standard on all-wheel drive escalade models 55,535), and is becoming the standard powerplant for all escalade models, including 2wd. However, early 2005 escalade 2wd models can be found with the 5. 3-liter v8 52,635).  escalade esv 57,935) and escalade ext 52,815) come standard with the 6. 0-liter v8 and all-wheel drive. Though the escalade, esv, and ext differ in appearance and packaging, they share interiors and are mechanically the same.  cadillac is usually the first to get gm's cutting-edge technology and all the escalade models come loaded with the latest: stabilitrak electronic stability control, computer-controlled road-sensing suspension (rss), and ultrasonic rear parking assist (a warning beeper).  the list of standard equipment is as long as the escalade itself: nuance leather seats with burl walnut interior trim; power heated 14-way adjustable front seats; bose acoustimass audio system with six-disc cd changer; xm satellite radio; rear seat audio controls with earphones; removable lightweight third-row seats; heavy duty trailering package. Also standard is the onstar communications system with personal calling, which allows drivers to make hands-free, voice-activated personal calls; and virtual advisor, which provides headlines, scores, weather, and personalized stock quotes. For 2005, onstar's latest (gen 6) technology enhances hands-free capabilities.  the list of options is short and includes a rear-seat dvd entertainment system 1295), touch-screen navigation integrated into the audio system 1995), and a power glass sunroof 1550). walkaroundthough they differ in body style, the cadillac escalade, esv, and ext share drivetrains, chassis architecture and styling cues. All are built on gm's full-size truck platform and share much in common with their counterparts from chevrolet and gmc.  these are big vehicles. Stretching 221. 4 inches, the ext and esv are 2 inches longer than a suburban, placing them among the longest vehicles on the road. Likewise, the escalade is 2 inches longer than the tahoe, the former measuring 198. 9. In terms of length, a lincoln navigator falls between escalade and esv (measuring 207. 5 inches).  if their size gives them presence, their bold styling pushes the escalades over the top. When it debuted in 2002, the escalade was the first production vehicle to embody cadillac's progressive new styling, with sharp, chiseled, vertical lines, and a grille inspired by the evoq concept car. It was the first new vehicle to reflect cadillac's 'art and science' philosophy, aimed at blending forward-thinking technology with expressive design. Now, cadillac has a full stable of edgy new designs, including the cts, sts, and xlr, exciting cars that represent nothing less than a renaissance at cadillac.  escalade's front end is massive and looks it, with a big satin-nickel plastic grille and vertical halogen headlight clusters that measure 16 by 12 inches. High intensity discharge (hid) headlamps with chrome bezels reflect a jewel-like appearance, and are integrated with rectangular parking lamps and turn signals. The vehicle's front fascia incorporates recessed tow hooks and rectangular fog lamps.  a recently simplified wreath-and-crest insignia designed to symbolize the new cadillac appears on the grille and liftgate. Chrome trim emblazons the nameplate, running boards and roof rack. Big 17-inch forged alloy wheels with seven short, wide spokes carry p265/70r17 goodyear all-season radials. These standard wheels are attractive, but are less dynamic than the rest of the styling.  somehow the sheer size of the escalade esv makes it look less intimidating than the escalade. Perhaps that's because it's essentially a suburban with the escalade's bold styling and more standard luxuries (including the big 6. 0-liter v8 and all-wheel drive). There's something familiar and friendly about a suburban. But there's still no doubt that the escalade esv represents the ultimate in suv excess. For ultimate eye-popping power, choose the esv platinum edition 69,305), which rides about an inch lower than the standard esv. A chrome grille and chromed 20-inch wheels add to the flash, along with platinum lettering on the liftgate.  the ext is the most unusual of the line, with its open pickup bed. When more cargo room is needed, the driver can easily extend the bed to 8 feet. To accomplish this, the rear seats and midgate fold into the interior of the cab to create a 4-by-8-foot cargo area. Items can be protected from the elements and theft with a well-designed three-piece cargo cover and lockable tailgate, both of which come standard. The sides of the cargo box, along with the midgate and tailgate, are constructed of pro-tec, an extremely strong composite material. The rear window is removable to allow for additional cargo space or for added air circulation. The window is easily stowed on board and works in conjunction with the midgate. It's an innovative and brilliantly executed solution to the problem of needing both passenger and cargo space at different times. In the morning it's a full-size work truck, in the afternoon it's a luxury crew cab. The 14-way power driver's seat comes with a memory feature. Buttons for the seat heaters are conveniently located here as well.  front-row roominess and accommodations are essentially the same for the escalade, esv, and ext. A big center console serves as a front armrest and opens in a couple of different ways to reveal storage areas. Two large cup holders, a cd rack and coin holder are all in there. A power outlet inside the center console is handy for plugging in and storing cell phones and other accessories.  the dashboard is squarish, like a big flat tray. A leather-wrapped handgrip runs across the top of the dash on the passenger side, with big stitching that faces out. Walnut burl wood trim adds warmth. New chrome trim and more detailed graphics on the instruments for 2005 emphasizes their stylish, retro-tech look. A transmission temperature gauge is included, reassuring when towing.  the optional navigation system 1995) has been upgraded for 2005, with touch-screen technology replacing last year's joystick. And the screen itself has expanded from 5. 8 to 6. 5 inches.  the platinum edition esv gets premium interior features and materials, including an ebony and shale dash, shale leather seating surfaces and pleated door-panel bolsters. Seats are both heated and cooled in the first and second rows; even the cup holders are heated and cooled. Walnut burl accents appear on the steering wheel, console, door pulls, window switch bezels and dashboard trim. Chrome trim highlights the steering wheel, speaker covers and gauge cluster. 2007 ford taurus review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Two different v6 engines are available, the old overhead-valve vulcan v6 and the modern dual overhead-cam all-aluminum duratec v6. Both are 3. 0-liter engines, but the duratec is more sophisticated and much more powerful. They also come standard with abs and a rear anti-roll bar for better handling. The ford taurus is a carryover from 2006.

2006 gmc envoy review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Stabilitrak furthers appeal of this versatile suv. introductionthe gmc envoy features a broad lineup of versatile, sophisticated, and highly capable suvs. About a dozen different variants are available, including the luxurious denali.  the standard envoy is a five-passenger suv with two rows of comfortable seats. The sle and slt models are compelling alternatives to the ford explorer and other mid-size suvs. Stable and responsive with excellent road manners, the envoy comes with a smooth, powerful inline six-cylinder engine that has been updated for 2006.  the envoy denali is equipped with a more powerful v8 engine that improves its performance and increases its cargo-hauling and trailer-towing capability. This optional 5. 3-liter v8 features gm's displacement on demand technology, which idles half the cylinders when cruising to enhance fuel economy. Denali is also upgraded with luxury features and special trim, including 18-inch aluminum wheels for 2006.  the extra-long envoy xl models are considerably longer, allowing seven-passenger seating and greater hauling versatility. Because it's longer and heavier, the xl doesn't handle as well as the envoy nor does it feel as reassuring as the wider gmc yukon. In short, we much prefer the envoy and yukon over the envoy xl, though the latter does represent a value proposition.  safety gets a major addition for 2006, as all envoys come equipped with gm's stabilitrak electronic stability control with proactive roll avoidance. This system uses selective wheel braking and compensating shock absorber adjustments to help maintain vehicle control on slick and uneven road surfaces, as well as during emergency lane changes or avoidance maneuvers. Envoy and envoy xl models come with the six-cylinder vortec 4200 engine. Denali models are equipped with the 5. 3-liter v8. Navigation 1,995) and a bose premium sound system 495) are available for slt models, along with an mp3 player. Discount packages bundle the sunroof with various audio and entertainment options. The 2wd models can be ordered with a locking rear differential 270) and traction control 175).  safety features include anti-lock brakes (abs) as standard equipment on all models. Head-curtain and side-impact airbags are optional 495). walkaroundthe gmc envoy and envoy denali models are mid-size suvs, with a 113-inch wheelbase and overall length of 191. 6 inches, about the same size as a ford explorer. Envoy is smaller than a gmc yukon, but bigger than suvs built on car chassis.  the xl models have been stretched 16 inches, increasing the wheelbase to 129 inches. This provides space for third-row seating. One way to distinguish an envoy xl from the standard envoy is to look at the rear doors. The envoy's rear fenders overlap the rear door edges; the envoy xl, with its length stretched amidships, has enough space for the rear edge of the rear doors to drop straight down all the way to the rocker panels. Each of these nameplates boasts unique styling, but there are feature differences as well. It looks like it's ready to tackle the tough jobs (and it is), but the styling is conservative and upscale. It looks more sophisticated than the trailblazer. Envoy's giant black grille with its big ruby-red logo says gmc in no uncertain terms.  the front end, with its distinct headlamps, round fog lights and pouty front bumper with a wide, slim slit at the bottom is clean and sleek. Strong beveled shapes extend along the sides and around the wheel wells, and help make the envoy look imposing. It doesn't have the trailblazer's showy fender flares, instead housing its big 17-inch wheels inside hefty wheel openings that are part of its trapezoidal design theme. The rear bumper is stepped for its full length, and includes big round backup lights. Running boards, which also serve as stone guards, are integrated into the rocker panels.  while the standard envoy is a handsome vehicle, the proportion of the xl models make them look ungainly. They look too long in the back relative to their front proportions. interiorthe gmc envoy and envoy denali seat five passengers. The xl versions add a third row to seat seven. The front and middle rows of the standard models are the same as in the xl models.  the gmc's seats seemed more comfortable than those in the chevy. The envoy's seat cushions are longer, wider and thicker, and offer noticeably more side bolstering, though the seat bottoms could use more support.  the leather upholstery in the envoy slt is plush, but the cloth in the sle grips the driver better. Head, hip and legroom are comparable to that of the ford explorer. As with explorer, the sides of the seat bottoms are not fully trimmed around to the inside. On the slt, the driver's bucket is eight-way power adjustable, with two-way lumbar support and optional heat. The shoulder belts are fixed to the seatbacks; we'd prefer adjustable-height anchors.  the brushed nickel interior trim looks classy. The slt gets burl woodgrain trim on the center stack and console. Wood is also used around the light switches and the switches on the door armrests. Overall, the dash looks a bit choppy, not smooth and organic. Instrumentation is complete and clean, however. A big tachometer is on the left, speedometer in the center, and on the right are smaller gauges for water, battery, gas and oil.  sle's manual climate controls use sliders, which seem like a throwback in technology, while the slt's excellent digital controls use round knobs. Turning a knob is easier than sliding a lever, especially when bouncing around on rough roads. Both systems feature dual zones so temperature can be controlled separately by driver and front passenger. In xl models, rear-seat passengers get their own temperature control, which can be controlled by the driver, an important feature for dogs as well as people on hot summer days.  the center console features an enclosed compartment, an open storage bin, with a pair of superb cup holders forward of the shifter. The emergency brake lever is located there. Pockets in the front doors and behind the front seats are provided, but we'd like more places to put stuff in the center console area. Three power outlets are provided in the center stack, though unfortunately none have power when the ignition is switched off. Behind the rear seat is a small hidden compartment under the floor, a cargo net (on slt), and another power outlet. Rear-seat headrests conveniently flip down to give the driver a better view to the rear.  slt's overhead console includes a sunglasses holder, homelink universal transmitter and an optional travelnote digital recorder 85), which allows the driver to verbally record phone numbers while on a cell phone. All envoy audio systems include rds (radio data systems) technology, allowing the listener to search for stations by type, display song and artist information, and provide traffic and weather updates.  onstar, gm's telematics system, is optional on all models and we recommend it both for its safety and convenience features. Onstar includes hands-free cell phone communication, automatic crash reporting (set the airbags off and they'll.
